Exploring

Decided to do some exploring today while out for a run. It is about a mile from my room on base down to the beach. Ran along the beach highway for a while, then decided rather than double back I would do a loop to get back to base through a different gate. Needless to say, 8 miles later....thankfully smart enough to have taken a water bottle and cash to replenish my beverage supply....I made it back to my room. I am still exhausted now four hours later, but glad I got out!!!!

Location:Biloxi Beach

The adventure begins!

Today I departed for training in the garden spot known a Biloxi, MS where I will spend two and a half months. The "summer getaway" will be made easier by the generosity of my parents who agreed (with barely any arm twisting) two take the kids on a two month road trip where they will spend a month with me down in MS. Here's to a summer of fun and memories!!!!

Dad's Summer Garden

We are doing a community garden this summer. Half of the food that we grow will be donated to Neighborhood House.

Brisk Winter Walk

I decided to drag Nick and Oliver out of the house this morning for a short walk around the neighborhood. We did a lap down around through the park and back up the other side of the neighborhood. Burrrrr! Cold and icy out there!

Shoes...check! Dog....check! Leash....check! iPod boom box....check!! Guess we're gonna groove to some Michael Jackson while we walk!!

Look closely....you will note that Nick has on fleece jammie pants. He has had the same thing on since Christmas Eve and did not finally get dressed until today (Sunday) We just added a few extra layers to keep him warm!!!!

Merry Christmas 2009

Hard to believe, Christmas has come and gone. We had a great, relaxing celebration at home. Got up too early, ate too much, stayed up too late.....standard holiday fun!!!

California Vaca ~ Day 1

First stop, Casa de Aragon in Lincoln, CA. Spent the first two nights at good friend Stephanie and Rob's house. Lots and lots of pool and sun time. Did a whole lot of NOTHIN'!!!!

The kids were in the pool from 9 am to 9 pm....literally!! Their poor fingers and toes were so raw!

Saying Goodbye

We had just three days at home before we were heading out on our next adventure. And in those three days we had to say "goodbye" to our neighbor friends who were moving back to Alabama. Hannah and Maggie had become quite fond of Emma and Sara....well, it was a mutual fondness actually. Such little sweethearts....very sad to see them move away.

Makes me laugh thinking back to when I took this picture.....it was during the week that it was a million degrees in Portland and we had to pack to leave for CA the next morning (and the AC was not working right). Seeing the red, glowing cheeks on the kids reminds me of how miserable that was.....and who would have thought that we would be heading for cooler temps in CA!!!!!! I couldn't wait to get into the air conditioned car at 5am the next morning!!
